My Studio Space

Lessons will address the development of the student
  • in the direction the student wishes to take
  • or skills they wish to learn. 
The mediums offered for study are:
  • Drawing Mediums: Charcoal, pencil, marker, ink
  • Painting Mediums: Acrylic, Water-Soluble Oils
  • Palette Knife in oil or acrylics
  • Collage
  • Wire Sculpture
Realism and Abstraction are offered. Technique is part of the class, along with design elements such as perspective and composition.  We will address anatomy when required.   Some Art History will be covered as well as the exploration of current art, as it relates to the student's style or growth. It is reasonable to expect a student to progress on their own, with guidance. Some students work on their pieces outside of class and those students see their improvement more readily.

Private Classes
Youth: $50/2hr - in my home studio
Adult: $50/2hr - in my home studio
materials extra - most student bring their own - this can be discussed
NOTE: Some flexibility available in times and dates.

Semi-Private
  • 2 Adult students $90/2hr - $120/3hr in my home studio
  • 3 to 4 Adult students $160/2hr - $200/3hrs at your home [Weekends Summer only]

  • 2hr* - 9am-11 or 1-3pm
  • 3hr* - 9-12 or 12-3pm

Student & Adult Coaching

2011
Worked with an aspiring abstract artist, as a coach.  He had no formal training but lots of potential.  We arranged 2 - 2hr classes a month to explore abstraction.  This encouraged him to continue to pursue his dream of being an artist and he has participated in many art shows since.

2012-2013
I coached a grade 11 High School Student from Sept to March to improve her art and improve her portfolio for future University applications.   One 2hr class a week with homework. She stopped the classes when they moved location.

2014-2015
~ Grade 8 Student - In September I started coaching for her entrance into an Arts High School.  We meet at my studio every week for a 2 hour lesson and she works on projects at home or not, depending on her schedule.   Her parents feel that this has helped her confidence with dealing with adults outside the classroom.

2015 - 2016
~ Now in an Arts High School, I continue to mentor the same youth, to develop independent thinking and exploring mediums and techniques.
~ I taught an all day workshop in Markham this Fall - Palette Knife and Medium

2017
~ Youth - grade 11 student.  Working towards improving skills to be ready for pursuing a career in animation.  Perspective exercises, model sculpting, face, figurative and colour understanding.

2018
~ 2 adult students studying painting. Each in a different studio. Beginner student learning through the use of acrylics and Intermediate student [studied under me for over 8 years] using oils and studying realism.

2019
~ 1 adult student - review of painting - mix colours, transparent colour and application.

2020:
~ Online teaching only. Weekly classes and some workshops.

2021:
~ Online teaching continues
